Breaking news: Teens fleeing to Bordertown!

Creating a Bordertown anthology is a community endeavor: writers, artists, and editors collaborate in a wide variety of ways, characters wander from story to story, and all sorts of people (in addition to those with their names on the book) add to the magic that swirls through Bordertown's city streets. For example, the beautiful painting that appears in the video above was created by the English artist Rima Staines (who lives in the same small English village as Bordertown editor/creator Terri Windling). This painting inspired two interconnected pieces in Welcome to Bordertown: Catherynne M. Valente's powerful story "A Voice Like a Hole," and Amal El-Mohtar's responding poem, "Stairs in her Hair." And now Amal's poem has been turned into a song, which you can hear on this video. The words, of course, are by Amal; the music was written and performed by Gabriel Bouchard; and the singer is the author's sister, Dounya El-Mohtar.
